DevOpsCon Keynotes

In our two keynotes, two intriguing topics will be presented. In the first keynote, we will explore the impact of work design on organizational performance, tracing the lessons learned from British coal mining in the 1950s to the challenges of delivering software in the modern workplace. In the second keynote, we will discuss and provide strategies to break free from ten common vicious circles that can hinder company progress, causing friction, misalignment, and bottlenecks. We look forward to exploring the latest trends and technologies with you.

Learnings from British coal mining

The Long History of DevOps Failures

Recording Available Until 13.09.2023

Sociotechnical system theory considers the interdependence of social and technical factors in the workplace and proposes that optimal organizational performance can only be achieved by systems that account for both.

This Live Event will present a whimsical chronicle of research and anecdotes from British coal in the 50s to Serverless platforms of today highlighting how generations relearn and forget the same basic lessons.

The audience should gain an increased understanding of the impact of work design on organizational performance with a focus on the complex and dynamic challenges of delivering software in the modern workplace.

Detecting and Breaking Them Up

The 5 Vicious Circles at Work

Recording Available Until 13.09.2023

A vicious circle (or cycle) is a complex chain of events that reinforces itself through a feedback loop, with harmful results. They can be happening today, anywhere at your company, creating friction, misalignment, bottlenecks, and even making the best employees quit.

In the last ten years working as an agile coach and scrum master in several types of companies and departments, Artur has detected 5 very common vicious circles that were happening again and again across these different places. And that can be a true pain. (And you might be in one of these loops without even knowing).

In this DevOpsCon keynote, we explore 5 typical vicious cycles in the workplace, try to understand them in depth, and discuss strategies for breaking them.
