Hacking a Serverless URL Shortener with JavaScript

Night Session with Thorsten Hans and Christian Liebel

On the road to a Minimum Viable Product

From an idea to a simple product: Christian Liebel and Thorsten Hans code their own URL shortener. By using serverless technologies such as Azure Functions and flanking services that are billed on a usage basis, the operating costs can be kept very low.

To implement the custom frontend for the URL shortener they use Angular. Both frontend and backend are homogeneously implemented using TypeScript. Using the end-to-end example, you can see how to pragmatically build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in just one hour and make it available to the public.

Topics

  • serverless technologies (Azure Functions)
  • Angular for individual frontend
  • frontend and backend with TypeScript
  • build MVP and make it available to the public
